Why dig Trenches when there are better solutions
Trenchless new construction methods are curated to install pipelines below the ground without excavating continuous trenches. This would mean, the pipe sections or string being installed must be capable of withstanding the stresses during installation as well as during usage. Further as the location of pipelines is below the ground surface, the pipeline must be capable of withstanding the applied dead & live loads due to soil strata and above ground loadings. Though the full complement of design activities require application of detailed pipeline engineering, understanding of the basics of the design parameters & process is an essential need for the planning and executing team. With this understanding, the team can, evaluate the possible impacts of stresses over the utility structure under construction and in case of any error, team can take actions for their rectification before any damage has occurred. These recommendatory guidelines are aimed at providing inputs for cultivating such understanding within the project owners.
