Why dig Trenches when there are better solutions
Trenchless techniques for new constructions enable project developers to create new subsurface networks without excavating continuous trenches. This characteristic, in turn, enhances the risks of project failures due to geological surprises at one hand and damaging existing underground structures at another. Best risk mitigation options available with project team are the application of geophysical techniques for the first set of risks and Subsurface Utility Engineering Protocols for the second set. Both of these systems require proper application of specialised engineering knowledge available with the domain experts, and the executing team must be capable to provide proper directions about the project requirements to the experts. Failure to provide such directions could lead to several hazards and in extreme situations project failures even. These recommendatory guidelines aim to provide inputs to project engineers in charting their way forward for these two important fields.
